Privacy Policy
Last updated July 11, 2026.
This policy explains what information NPI Portal handles and how. NPI Portal is a private, independent service and is not affiliated with any government agency.
Provider data is public record
The provider information we display (names, NPI numbers, taxonomy, and practice addresses) comes from the public CMS NPPES data set, which CMS publishes for anyone to download and use. This is public-record data about providers in their professional capacity, not personal information we collect from visitors. Corrections to provider data must be made in NPPES; see our corrections and removal policy.
Cookies and privacy choices
We use local browser storage that is necessary to remember whether you accepted or rejected optional analytics. This record contains your choice, the consent-policy version, and the time it was saved; it stays on your device and is not sent to us. We ask you to confirm your choice again after six months or when our consent practices materially change.
Optional analytics is off unless you choose to allow it. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time through Cookie settings in the footer. Rejecting optional analytics does not prevent you from using the Site.
Analytics
If you consent, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand traffic and improve the Site. Only after consent, Google Analytics may set cookies and collect usage data such as pages viewed, approximate location, and device type, as described in Google's privacy policy; you can opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. We keep advertising-related Google consent settings denied because the Site does not currently load an advertising network.
Sale and sharing of personal information
We do not sell personal information for money. At present, no advertising partner receives visitor information from the Site. If we introduce personalized advertising, disclosures of identifiers or Internet activity to an advertising partner may be considered a “sale,” “sharing,” or use for targeted advertising under some privacy laws even when no money is exchanged. Where those laws apply, we will provide the required notice and a way to opt out.
Advertising
The Site contains reserved advertising spaces but does not currently load a third-party ad network. We expect to introduce advertising in the future. Depending on the advertising provider and the choices available to you, ads may be contextual (based on the page being viewed) or personalized using information about activity over time and across websites.
An advertising provider may use cookies, pixels, local storage, IP addresses, device and browser information, approximate location, pages viewed, and interactions with ads to select and deliver ads, limit how often an ad appears, measure performance, produce reports, and detect fraud. The provider may process that information under its own privacy policy.
Before enabling an ad provider, we will identify it in this policy and add links to its privacy and opt-out information. We will also use a consent or privacy-choice mechanism where required before loading non-essential advertising cookies or personalized advertising. You can also use browser controls to block or delete cookies, although doing so may affect some site features and advertising preferences.
Your rights (GDPR & CCPA)
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal data, to object to or restrict processing, and to not be discriminated against for exercising those rights. Because we display public provider records rather than collect visitor profiles, requests about provider data are generally directed to NPPES; requests about any data we hold can be sent to us using the contact below.
