About NPI Portal

NPI Portal is a private website. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated by CMS, HHS, or any U.S. government agency.

Our mission

NPI Portal is a private, independent tool for looking up and verifying the National Provider Identifier (NPI) of U.S. healthcare providers and organizations. Every record we show is built on the public CMS NPPES data set — the same data behind the official registry — presented with faster search, plain-English taxonomy definitions, and provider directories by specialty, state, and city.

We exist to make public NPI data easy to search and understand. We do not add opinions, ratings, or reviews — only the facts on file with NPPES.

Data sources & methodology

Our records come from three official, public sources:

  • CMS NPPES. The National Plan and Provider Enumeration System publishes a monthly full-replacement file plus weekly incremental updates. We ingest the monthly file and apply the weekly deltas. Bulk files are available from download.cms.gov/nppes.
  • NUCC taxonomy. Provider classifications use the NUCC Health Care Provider Taxonomy code set, which we use to decode each provider’s taxonomy code.
  • Live NPPES API. For records not yet in our indexed snapshot, or when our index is newer than a cached profile, we fall back to the live registry at npiregistry.cms.hhs.gov so pages stay current.

Our current indexed snapshot is dated 2026-07-09. Because NPPES data changes constantly, always treat the official registry as the authoritative source for a given record.

Corrections & removal

Corrections. Because our data mirrors NPPES, we cannot change a provider’s information directly. Data corrections must be made at the source, in NPPES — see nppes.cms.hhs.gov for how to update your record. Once CMS publishes the change, it flows into our snapshot.

Address suppression. Sole proprietors whose NPPES record lists a home address may ask us to suppress that address from their profile — contact us at the address below with the NPI and details.

Removal. We honor removal requests for deactivated records. If your NPI has been deactivated in NPPES and you would like the profile removed, contact us.
