How do I search the NPI registry?
Type a provider or organization name (like "Jane Smith" or "Mercy Medical") or a 10-digit NPI number. Add a state to narrow the results. Entering a full NPI takes you straight to that record.
Why can’t I find a provider?
Try the last name only, check the spelling, or search on the lookup-by-name tool with separate first/last fields. Newly enumerated NPIs appear after NPPES publishes them.
Is this data current?
Results come from our indexed copy of the CMS NPPES registry (snapshot 2026-07-09), with automatic fallback to the live registry for records not yet indexed.
